Join a group of badass women and step outside your comfort zone! Ready to try winter camping in the Canadian Rockies? You know you've always wanted to!
The main goal of this program is to learn how to winter camp safely and have fun while doing it (yes, it’s possible to have fun while camping in the winter!). The night before heading out, your guide will cover the overall basics; everything from what to pack, how to stay WARM, backpacking food and cooking, clothing, overnight gear, and animal safety! The next day strap on your snowshoes and explore. Tents will be pitched in a quiet location within Banff National Park providing lots of time explore the surrounding area. If the cold becomes too much we will have a camp fire going to warm up next to! After all, this is not meant to be a suffer-fest, but a chance to learn and experience something new. This is a complete experience for those looking to try and learn something new!

Due to COVID-19 our pre-trip meetings will now be held online at 7pm. We will make sure everyone has everything they need, introduce the group, laugh lots, and distribute the group gear. If COVID-19 restrictions relax we will resume in person pre-trip meetings. (In this case you will be notified of the change.)
Day 2:
We'll wake up full of energy and drive to the trailhead. Strapping on our snowshoes we'll travel about 6km into our campground for the night. We will make a fire for us to warm up next to! Tents will be set up, sleeping bags fluffed, and the afternoon will be full of snowmen and snowball fights...I guess we'll squeeze in some instruction too!
Day 3:
Amazing! You just spent the night in a tent...in the WINTER! Celebrate your success and warm your body with hot chocolate. With the rising sun pack up your gear and travel the short distance back to the hut and our cars. We'll spend sometime in the hut chatting about our experience and what we learned and if the group is up for it we will head out on a snowshoe to explore the area. After the snowshoe we'll drive back to Canmore, Alberta and celebrate our success as a group!
Level of Difficulty
This trip is designed to help women explore the world of winter camping. No previous experience is necessary but a general fitness level is needed. You will need to carry your personal gear plus food and water for a short distance each day; approximately 6km.
